Regardless of your age, health status or the value of your assets, it is very important to think about what would happen if you were to die suddenly or become incapacitated.  An estate plan is simply a plan that you create so as to ensure that your wishes are followed at the time of your death or in the event you become incapacitated.  An estate plan helps provide you with the "peace of mind" that you have done all that you can to ensure that your children and other loved ones are taken care of and that your assets are protected.  At a minimum, having at least a will means that the State of Minnesota will not have to determine who takes care of your children and who receives your property.  .
